Egypt winger Ahmed Elmohamady had a perfect end to the season with Hull City after the Tigers sealed promotion to the English Premier League with a 2-2 draw at Cardiff City on Saturday. The draw, coupled with Watford's 2-1 loss to Leeds United, lifted Hull to the elite competition after three years of lower-division action. They sealed automatic promotion after finishing second behind leaders Cardiff. Elmohamady joined Hull on a season-long loan from Premier League side Sunderland last summer. Sunderland briefly recalled him in January but Hull coach Steve Bruce brought him back to help his side in their bid for promotion. The 25-year-old produced some impressive displays this season, with his darting runs down the right and pinpoint crosses proving constant menace to opponents. He scored two goals this season and was named as Hull's best player. Elmohamady's fellow countryman Mohamed Nagy 'Gedo' has also contributed to Hull's promotion after joining from Egypt's Ahly on a six-month loan deal in January. He scored five goals in 12 Championship appearances to earn praise from Bruce, who according to reports is planning to sign him on a permanent basis. However, he was not lucky enough to feature in the decider after picking up a foot injury that may require surgery. Egypt's versatile midfielder Ahmed Fathi also joined Hull from Ahly on another short-term loan deal but he could only make some cameo appearances. He was introduced with three minutes remaining against Cardiff.
