Sunderland have recalled Egypt winger Ahmed Elmohamady from English second-division side Hull City, the Premier League outfit announced on Wednesday. "(Coach) Martin O'Neill has opted to recall winger Ahmed Elmohamady from his loan spell at Hull City," Sunderland said in a brief statement on their official website. "Elmohamady had a productive spell with the Tigers, who are pushing for automatic promotion from the Npower Championship." The 25-year-old has put in a string of fine displays in the Championship since joining Hull from Sunderland on a season-long loan last summer. He scored one goal and created several others for his teammates. He was applauded for his darting runs down the right flank and pinpoint crosses, which caused constant menace to Hull's opponents in the lower division. He was due to stay at Hull until the end of the season but Sunderland's erratic form in the Premier League has prompted O'Neill to recall him. The Northern Irish boss barely used Elmohamady after succeeding Steve Bruce as Sunderland coach in December 2011. Bruce opted to sign the Egyptian winger after taking charge of Hull. Sunderland lie 14th in the league table with 25 points, six above the relegation zone.
