Spinneys Opens A New Store In Maddi
Published in Ahram Online on 07 - 02 - 2021

Spinneys continues to expand its store network in Egypt with its recent opening of a new store in Cairo on the 1st of February. The store is strategically located in the upscale district of Degla in Maadi opposite the ‘Maadi Grand Mall'. The opening marks Spinneys' 16th store opening in the Egyptian market as it continues its expansion drive across the country through 2021.
“The new store in Maadi reflects our ongoing commitment to the Egyptian market,” Spinneys CEO Mohanad Adly, said. “In 2020, we focused our expansion efforts to launch our online shopping platform and increased our phone ordering delivery capacity. As a result, we've made significant progress on the delivery front which is now our fastest growing revenue channel. This year, we are also expanding our physical store presence with the new store in Maadi representing the first in a series of planned openings in 2021”.
Spinneys opened its first branch in Egypt in 2006 and since then has made significant strides to increase its presence locally and to enhance the brand's image and awareness. The company's growth strategy focuses on reaching shoppers in urban areas with different store formats, including supermarkets and hypermarkets.
“Our growth plan is driven by shoppers' expectations for convenience and high service levels”, said Adly. “Our stores offer an exceptional quick-trip shopping experience to meet those needs for consumers who are becoming busier every day. The varying size and locations of these stores will enable Spinneys to create a unique shopping experience with an extensive food variety customized for each community.”
Since its inception in Egypt 15 years ago, Spinneys brought a unique shopping experience to Egyptian consumers, who have an affinity for high quality goods and services and great value. Currently, the retailer operates 16 stores in Egypt and employs approx. 2,000 dedicated employees. The new store has created an additional 100 new jobs, most of whom were recruited locally from the neighboring communities around the store.
The multi-million pound investment in this 850 m2 store has provided shoppers with the latest Spinneys offer, including fresh meat, fruit & vegetables, deli & dairy, bakery as well as an extensive range of non-food items. Customers are also able to use the popular loyalty scheme, providing them with the opportunity to collect and redeem points with every purchase.
Delivery service is available for all Maadi residents through the new Spinneys Egypt mobile app as well as through the web browser version at www.spinneys-egypt.com. Phone ordering is also available for customers who prefer to place their orders through the call center via the short number 16005.
