In the heart of the Giza district of Cairo, one of the world's most popular shopping destinations finally opened its doors on 18 September. The Spinneys chain has just expanded a little bit closer to each local consumer, through opening its latest branch.
This particular branch marks an important milestone for the company, as it is set to continue its expansion across Egypt through 2015.
"The Giza store opening reflects our ongoing commitment to the Egyptian market," Spinneys CEO Mohanad Adly, said. "In 2015, we want to introduce Spinneys to as many Egyptian consumers as we possibly can, and we will be looking at locations not just in Cairo but across various other cities as well."
Spinneys first entered the Egyptian market nine years ago, and has since made significant strides to increase its presence locally, and also to enhance the brand's image and awareness. The company's new growth strategy is focused on reaching shoppers in urban areas with new formats like supermarkets, while also offering fresh innovations in its core hypermarket stores.
"Our growth plan looks different today than it did a few years back, driven by shoppers' expectations for convenience and high service levels," said Adly. "The new supermarket format offers an exceptional quick-trip shopping experience to meet those needs for consumers who are becoming busier every day. The varying size and locations of these stores will enable Spinneys to create a unique shopping experience with an extensive food variety customised for each community."
The Pyramids' branch is the third store opening this year following the successful launch of the Moqattam branch in May and the Hurghada branch in June. Two other upcoming branches, a store in Alexandria and another in New Cairo, will also be celebrating launches during 2015.
In 2005, Spinneys created an innovative unique shopping experience targeting consumers who have an affinity for high quality goods, services and great value. Today, the extended chain employs over 1,200 people, in addition to the extra 200 new jobs created by the latest branch expansion.
The multi-million pound investment in this 3,000 sqm store has provided shoppers with the latest Spinneys-oriented experience, including fresh meat, fruits and vegetables, in addition to deli, dairy and bakery goods, as well as an extensive range of non-food and general merchandise items.
Meanwhile, the electronics section provides a wide range of home and kitchen appliances; ranging from TV screens and washing machines to coffee machines and other smaller gadgets. Customers are also able to use the popular loyalty scheme, providing them with the opportunity to collect and redeem points with every purchase.
