Ahmed Elmohamady denied that he is considering joining Cairo giants Ahly next season after falling down the pecking order at Sunderland. The Egyptian right wing-back has struggled to play on a regular basis since coach Martin O'Neill took over at Sunderland last December. Recent reports suggested that Egyptian champions Ahly are mulling luring him to Cairo in next summer's transfer window. "Ahly haven't made any approaches to sign me from Sunderland," Elmohamady said in a television interview following Egypt's 3-2 friendly victory over Nigeria in Dubai on Thursday. "I respect Ahly but I intend to stay in Europe as long as possible. I have no intention of returning to Egypt, I still have two years to run on my contract with Sunderland." O'Neill has allowed Elmohamady to take part in Egypt's ongoing training camps as the Pharaohs prepare for the qualifying campaigns for the 2012 African Cup of Nations and 2014 World Cup. A neat build-up play involving Elmohamady and striker Emad Meteb helped Ahmed Mekki score an injury-time winner over a second-string Nigerian side on Thursday. Elmohamady, who was a regular starter under former Sunderland manager Steve Bruce, said he might depart Sunderland next season. "I have some offer from other Premier League sides.
