Egyptian actress Soheir El-Barouny died Wednesday, 1 February, aged 75

Egyptian actress Soheir El-Barouny died yesterday, aged 75.
El-Barouny was a noted comedian in Egyptian cinema and took other roles in theatre and television.
In theatre, El-Barouny joined comedy giant Foad El-Mohandes during her rise in the 1960s, appearing in Alashan Khater Eyounik (For Your Eyes) with El-Mohandes and Sherihan, and Sharea Mohamed Ali (Mohamed Ali Street). Both plays were also performed during the 1990s.
El-Barouny's other famous roles include a theatre performance inHawadeet (Short Tales), and roles in cinema including30 Youm Fil Segn (30 Days in Prison), Adwaa El-Madina (The Lights of the City), and adaptations of Naguib Mahfouz's Cairo Trilogy Kasr El-Shoq (The Palace of Desire) and Bein El-Kasreen (Between the Palaces). Other films include Oghneya fil Mamar (A song in the Alley).
In television, El-Barouny is most famous for her roles in the series Lan Aish fil Gelbab Aby (I Will Not Live Under the Influence of My Father), Esabet Baba we Mama (Papa and Mama's Mob), Shahed Esbat (Bear Witness) and Karima Karima (The Generous Karima) in summer 2011.
