Egyptian central bank Governor Hassan Abdalla attended Sunday the in the annual meeting of the Permanent Bureau of the Council of Arab Central Banks and Monetary Authorities' Governors in Abu Dhabi, ahead of the bloc's 49th summit next September. According to a statement from the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), the meeting focused on strengthening cooperation among Arab central banks and reviewed key developments across several banking sectors. Abdalla reaffirmed Egypt's commitment to active engagement in all council committees and working groups, underscoring the importance of Arab monetary integration to build resilience against global economic challenges. Discussions included updates from specialised Arab committees on banking supervision, payment systems, credit information, financial inclusion, fintech, financial stability, and green finance. Progress was also reviewed on the forthcoming Arab Financial Stability Report and the 2025 Joint Arab Economic Report. The gathering also addressed preparations for the 2025 Unified Arab Discourse, which will be presented at the World Bank and International Monetary Fund Annual Meetings in October, articulating the shared economic outlook of Arab nations.
