Egypt striker Emad Meteb extends stay at Ahly Out-of-action striker Emad Meteb has been offered a contract extension by the club he's been loyal to since 2004
Ahly forward Emad Meteb has extended his contract at the Cairo club. "Meteb agreed to a contract extension without negotiations regarding its details," Ahly board member Mohamed Abdel-Wahab told the club's official website on Monday. "Meteb agreed to allow the club to determine his fees and the contract period, and this is what Ahly would expect from a faithful son," the board member added. The 30-year-old attacker flew to the UAE on Sunday for a three-week rehabilitation programme before he returns to regular training. He sustained a hamstring tear during a training session last month. The player joined the African Champions in 2004. He went out on loan to Belgium's Standard Liege in 2010/11 and to Ittihad Jeddah of Saudi Arabia in 2008/09. Meteb has collected a series of domestic and continental trophies with the Red Devils, including three CAF Champions League titles, three Super Cups, six Egyptian Premier League titles, two Egypt Cups, and four Super Cups. He was also a bronze medalist in the 2006 FIFA Club World Cup. He has starred with the national team, inspiring Egypt to three successive Africa Cup of Nations trophies in 2006, 2008 and 2010.
