CAIRO: Emad Meteb's future is surrounded by several uncertainties as the Egypt striker has yet to decide between extending his contract with Ahly and joining Belgium's Standard Liege. Ahly marketing manager Adli Al-Qaeyi believes the 27-year-old could still sign an extension with the league champions, despite advanced talks with Standard. "There is a possibility that Meteb could stay with Ahly, but it's up to him," Al-Qaeyi told Ahly's satellite channel on Tuesday. "There is mutual interest in extending his contract. He is still in contact with the club's officials even though there is a pre-agreement with Standard." However, the Ahly's official's comments conflicts with Meteb agent's insistence that there is no chance the unsettled striker could stay in Cairo. A few days ago, agent Nader Shawki claimed that Meteb is on the verge of activating his pre-contract agreement with Standard, stressing that an Ahly stay is almost impossible. Back in 2008, Meteb signed a three-year contract with English Championship side Barnsley, who backed down on the move after he appeared in a Super Cup match with Ahly.
