ARISH, Egypt: There are a total of 30 witnesses in the court cast against the radical Islamic group Takfir wal Hijra in North Sinai, according to security sources. Fourteen members of the group, which is believe to have possible ties to al-Qaeda, are charged in the case, including Mohamed al-Teehi. They are accused of attacking the pipeline that carries Egyptian natural gas to Israel and Jordan and of attacking a police station. Sources said the witnesses denied the existence of five of the accused during the attack against Arish police station on July 29. They also said that masked groups with black flags reading "No God but Allah" stormed the police station. The prosecution held investigations with the defendants, who are believed to have been involved in explosions on the pipeline as well as attacking security elements in Rafah City with rocket-propelled grenades.
