Egypt joined senior officials from around the world in Riyadh on Sunday for a high-level coordination meeting of the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, the foreign ministry said Monday. Mahmoud Omar, Egypt's assistant foreign minister and head of the Palestine Department, represented Cairo at the meeting, which focused on enhancing coordination among key international partners to implement the New York Declaration and push forward diplomatic efforts for a peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue. Participants reviewed the humanitarian situation and ongoing relief operations in Gaza, underscoring the need for continued support to stabilise the finances of the Palestinian Authority. The meeting also outlined the alliance's next steps for promoting the two-state solution in the months ahead. According to Egypt's foreign ministry, delegates welcomed the US president's peace initiative and expressed appreciation for Egypt's role in brokering the Sharm El-Sheikh ceasefire in Gaza. They also voiced their intention to participate actively in the Cairo International Conference on Recovery, Reconstruction and Development of Gaza, scheduled for the second half of November.
