Egypt exerts strenuous efforts to back Palestinian cause: Palestinian presidential spokesman
Published in Ahram Online on 02 - 06 - 2021

Consultations are under way with Egypt to support the Palestinian cause and stabilise an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, said Palestinian Presidential Spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh.
Abu Rudeineh said in televised remarks on Tuesday that Egypt continues dispatching aid to people in the coastal enclave, praising its strenuous efforts to back the Palestinian struggle for independence.
He noted that US efforts should go in parallel with Egyptian and Arab endeavors to support the Palestinian cause, saying the ceasefire in Gaza continues to hold in coordination with Egypt.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is exerting his utmost efforts in tandem with Egypt to back the Palestinian cause, according to the spokesman.
No peace will be established without finding a just solution to the Palestinian problem, he said, voicing his complete confidence in Egypt and its national role in reconstructing Gaza.
He pointed out that a Palestinian delegation will pay a visit to Cairo soon to hold talks on reconstruction efforts in Gaza.
Meanwhile, Palestinian Ambassador in Cairo Diab Al-Louh has expressed appreciation of Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi's efforts and keenness on achieving national Palestinian reconciliation.
Al-Louh said in televised remarks on Tuesday that El-Sisi called on the high-profile Egyptian intelligence delegation that visited Palestine and met with leaders of many factions in Gaza and representatives of the Palestinian Authority to resume efforts aimed at ending schisms and achieving national Palestinian reconciliation.
Meetings are expected in Cairo in the coming days with Hamas' delegations and delegates of other Palestinian factions, he said, adding a meeting will convene via videoconferencing with the leadership in Ramallah and with the participation of President Abbas, according to the Palestinian diplomat. The Ramallah talks will be held under the co-sponsorship of Abbas and El-Sisi, he noted.
"We highly appreciate President El-Sisi's directives and his keenness on achieving national Palestinian reconciliation, which is a necessary step for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, ending tension in Palestine and stopping Israeli aggression on the Palestinian people," he said.
Al-Louh went on to say that Egypt is a pivotal country and a cornerstone of any move in the region, adding the country is today leading all moves on all tracks.
He noted that Egypt and Palestine share a strong partnership in several files, saying a location in southern Gaza has been allocated to establish a city to be named after Egypt on it.
"Egypt" city in Gaza will forward a message of solidarity to the Palestinians from Egyptians, Al-Louh concluded.
