Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Atty on Wednesday called for an immediate end to the siege of El-Fasher and voiced concern over worsening humanitarian conditions in the Sudan. The Egyptian minister made his remarks during a ministerial meeting of the Sudan Quartet on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, which brought together Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States as part of efforts to coordinate support for the Sudan. Abdel-Atty reaffirmed Cairo's backing for Sudan's sovereignty, unity, and national institutions, stressing that no arrangements should be imposed on the Sudanese people.
