ARISH, Egypt: Security sources in North Sinai announced leader of Takfir wal Hijra, Mohamed A, one of the most dangerous fanatics, was arrested over bombing the gas pipeline that transfers Egyptian natural gas to Israel and Jordan in North Sinai today November 13. He was involved in attacking police facilities in Arish, killing police and army soldiers, bombing the police station in Arish, participating in bombing the gas pipeline, attacking central security headquarters in Rafah border crossing and distributing flyers inciting violence on police forces. Mohamed was arrested with various weapons and explosives in Arish city. Security director of Aswan Saleh al-Masry was informed about the leader's location. Al-Masry formed a group of police and army forces with security leaders and arrested Mohamed. They also arrested 15 suspects, who were transferred to investigations. Takfir wal-Hijra was the popular name given to a radical Islamist group, which emerged in Egypt in the 1960s as an offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood. Some believe Takfir wal-Hijra have members and supporters in several other countries, allied with Al-Qaeda.
