CAIRO: A number of political forces today asserted that a government without full authority is simply a façade for the Supreme Council of the Egyptian Armed Forces (SCAF), claiming that a full transfer of power is required. The parties released a statement calling for Egyptians to join in a demonstration tomorrow in solidarity with the revolutionary government and to underline the legitimacy of the Tahrir protestors. “Despite the cessation of hostilities in Tahrir Square, the security forces are still attacking protestors in the provinces and taking advantage of the lack of media in certain areas,” the statement read. “The last ten days have seen the death and injury of many due to merciless violence from the security forces and we have received nothing in return but empty apologies; the only way forward is to appoint a revolutionary government.” Signatories to the statement include, but are not limited to, the Revolution Youth Coalition, the Youth Movement for Freedom and Justice, the National Front for Justice and Democracy, the Union of the Youth of Maspiro, the People's Committees for the Defense of the Revolution, the April 6 Youth Movement, the Democratic Front, the Revolutionary Socialists, the Coalition of Artists of the Revolution, the Popular Movement for the Independence of Al-Azhar and the Union of Progressive Youth.
