The Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) called on all political and national powers to solve the dilemma in Tahrir Square, and asked the cabinet to investigate the reasons behind these incidents. Thousands of demonstrators have been involved in clashes with security forces after a sit-in was forcibly dispersed Saturday afternoon. The council said that it assigned the government to investigate the reason behind the clashes and to prevent them in the future through positive dialogue with all the young political powers and coalitions. The council emphasized that it does not seek to prolong the transitional period, and it will not allow any actions to block democracy. The SCAF said that it is keen to fulfill the promises it made to the people and pass power to an elected civilian authority. It said that the upcoming parliamentary elections are the first step in the process.
