Google announced that it would award a prize worth 1.2 million EGP (U.S. $200,000) for the best applicable project in information technology in Egypt, under a competition entitled “Start.” “We seek to encourage Egyptian society to enter the world of creativity and innovation on the Internet in a way that serves the Egyptian economy,” said The Egypt and Middle East regional director of Google, Hisha Fakharany. Google, the "Science Age" commission, and another company will be the executive arm of the competition, which seeks to encourage youth to participate in the competition across different Egyptian governorates.
