CAIRO: The Egyptian armed forces moved three armored vehicles to secure the Israeli Embassy in Cairo tonight after clashes erupted between demonstrators and Central Security Forces (CSF). The demonstrators received the armored vehicles with chants of, "The people and the army are united in one hand." The armored vehicles came after the withdrawal of the CSF from the area. Earlier in the evening, demonstrators set fire to two CSF trucks and destroyed another four behind the Israeli Embassy. Hundreds of football fans and demonstrators gathered outside the embassy clashed with CSF troops, and the two groups threw stones at each other. After the numbers of demonstrators increased, the CSF troops withdrew from the area and left two trucks, which the demonstrators also set on fire. The fire caught on to two trees in the street and threatened to spread further.
