The Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum may develop petroleum refineries to handle rising domestic consumption of petroleum derivatives, according to a ministry source. “There is a plan aiming to import recent petroleum refining technology complicit with local and international environmental standards,” said the source. The first Egyptian petroleum refineries were established 100 years ago, and the most recent one was established 10 years ago, said the source. The source also said the development of petroleum refineries will cover Egypt's petroleum needs, reduce petroleum imports and cut transportation costs.
