The tourism chamber and its board of directors will continue to serve the members and study mechanisms of development for tourist facilities, said Chairman of the Board Adel Omar. Omar said the chamber will compensate all the tourist facilities that were damaged during Egypt's January 25 Revolution. There are 33 facilities in Cairo and other governorates, and compensation amounts to 1.6 million EGP (U.S. $271,000). Omar also said the damaged facilities received the compensation through the insurance companies entrusted to secure the facilities, but that the chamber pays the costs of the insurance companies. The chamber's activities are stalled due to Ramadan, but a meeting will be held in the middle of the month to study means to develop the chamber's programs.
