CAIRO: Supporters of Egypt's ruling military council plan to stage a demonstration in Cairo's Roxy Square this Friday. Titled ‘Friday of Course Correction,' those planning the demonstration expressed their refusal of the status quo – one that shows contention and doubt amongst Egypt's police, military forces and judges. While Cairo's Tahrir Square has become the epicenter of anti-regime demonstrations, Roxy has held pro-Mubarak and now pro-SCAF demonstrations. The Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) has been charged with Egypt's administration since the resignation of former President Hosni Mubarak on Feb. 11. Various movements will participate in the demonstration, including: “Public Stand to Save Egypt,” “January 25 Revolution and the Voice of the Silent Majority,” “I'm the Egyptian,” “March 19 Movement” and “Society of Egypt is our Country.” The movements reject the idea of forming a civil presidential council that excludes the military council from a governing role in Egypt's affairs. Organizers said the protest is a response to the civil disobedience employed by other youth movements against the SCAF. Pro-military supporters warned all political powers that neglecting the opinion of the majority will result in a lack of legitimacy. Supporters urged the media to report accurately and objectively when covering the demonstrations. The protestors are making the following demands: a vow to honor the March 19 referendum, the dismantling of the tent city in Tahrir Square, a return to a normal economic production cycle, and the full backing of Prime Minister Essam Sharaf.
