The Nile Party, which is still being formed, called all national forces and the people of Egypt to participate in demonstration for science on Friday, July 1 in Tahrir Square. The demonstration will support science research and development as well as projects like that of the City of Science being created by Dr. Farouk al-Bazz. A statement issued by the party pledged its commitment to helping Egypt by encouraging scientific innovation, educational reforms, and combating poverty and ignorance. Ahmed Ismail, cofounder of the Nile Party, says the party is working to help small businesses and inventors ally themselves with large projects and institutions. The demonstration is not to gain funds for these efforts, but rather to provide moral support. The statement stressed the need to mobilize citizens through science, and to refrain from taking foreign aid.
