BEHERA, Egypt: Fire was set to the grains in the silo that was inaugurated on Tuesday by Egyptian Prime Minister, Essam Sharaf in Wadi al-Natroun in the Damanhour neighborhood. The fire destroyed 40 sags of wheat, while 2 tons of grains got wet when workers tried to stop the fire. According to eye witnesses, some people set fire to the trees near the silo which eventually spread to the silo. When the police station of Behera was notified of the fire, it along with the fire crew immediately went there to rescue the rest of the bags of grain. The silo is established on 10 acres of land and costs 40 million Egyptian pounds. It includes six divisions each of which takes 5.000 tons of grain, as well as three distributing divisions each having a capacity of 100 tons. The silo also includes warehouse having the capacity of 30.000 tons annually.
