Tunisia's Esperance edged closer to the CAF Champions League semi-finals with a crushing 4-0 victory over MC Alger. The home side were in full control in Tunis, inspired by a superb hat-trick from Cameroonian striker Yannick N'Djeng. Tunisia international Mejdi Traoui opened the scoring with a powerful shot after being set up by N'Djeng, who also scored his team's winner against Ahli back in July. Esperance move to top of Group B with nine points, three more than Wydad Casablanca and four ahead of Ahli. Ahli visit Wydad on Sunday in a match that could see the Egyptian champions wave goodbye to the competition from the group stage. Ahli host Esperance in Cairo in the group finale as Wydad visit the already-ousted Alger.
