Egypt manager Hassan Shehata called up Mohamed Al-Gabbas of Belgian side Lierse for the Pharaohs' Nations Cup qualifier with South Africa on June 5, according to the Egyptian FA's official website. Four other foreign-based players were recalled to the squad in Merreikh goalie Essam Al-Hadari, Ahmed Ali of Saudi Arabia's Hilal, Sunderland right-back Ahmed Elmohamady and Borussia Dortmund forward Mohamed Zidan. Shehata is yet to name local-based players for the South Africa game. "We have been watching league matches and will decide on the rest of the squad by the end of matchday 23," assistant coach Shawki Gharib said. Egypt are languishing at the bottom of Group G with one point, six behind the Bafana Bafana who are on top. The African champions have to beat South Africa in Cairo to revive their Nations Cup qualification hopes.
