Egypt were ousted from the U-17 African Championship upon being humiliated 4-0 by Burkina Faso, a defeat that also saw them lose their chance of qualifying for the World Cup in Mexico this year. The young Pharaohs beat Senegale 2-1 in the opener last weekend before losing 1-0 to hosts Rwanda in the next match. The embarrassing loss to Burkina Faso left them in Group A third place, which caused them to be disqualified from the competition. Egypt's performance in Friday's match was by far lackluster as their recurring defensive lapses cost them dearly. Bertrand Traore, who produced an impressive display, bagged a brace for Burkina Faso. He first opened the scoring six minutes from the interval with a close-range low effort before scoring the fourth goal in a sensational manner. Traore dribbled past a couple of challenger before slotting home with aplomb from inside the area on 70 minutes to kill the game off. Zaniou Sana hit the second 10 minutes from the hour mark when he took advantage of a slip-up from defender Ahmed Tharwat, who mis-hit the ball while attempting to clear the danger. Egypt's stuttering backline is also to blame for the third strike, which Faical Ouedraogo scored with ease.
