RWANDA - Egypt is optimistic that it can at least reach the last four of the 2011 African Youth Championship (ACN), due to start in Rwanda on Saturday and run through 22 Jan. The four semi-finallists at the biennial competition will qualify for the 2011 FIFA Under-17 World Cup, to be held in Mexico later in the year. According to African soccer's governing body CAF, Assistant Coach of the Junior Pharaohs of Egypt, Tamer Abdel Hamid, believed his team has prepared well for the competition, tagged Rwanda 2011. “We have prepared well and should have a good tournament. Also, we are comfortable playing here (Rwanda) as we feel at home. “We are here to qualify for the World Cup finals. Of course we want to win the tournament but our priority is to qualify for the World Cupwhich literally means reaching the semi-finals.' Egypt has only won the tournament once, in Botswana in 1997. The Junior Pharaohs are in the same Group A as host Rwanda, Burkina Faso and debutant Senegal. Egypt will open its campaign against Senegal on Saturday, play host Rwanda three days later before wrapping up against Burkina Faso 14 Jan.
