Abdul-Wahed to play against Ahli despite 'large' wound
Published in FilGoal on 25 - 12 - 2010

Zamalek's goalkeeping coach Emad Al-Mandouh says Abdul-Wahed Al-Sayed picked up a serious injury but will be able to feature against Ahli in the Cairo derby on December 30th.
The veteran goalie was hurt after Degla's Syrian player Abdul-Fattah Al-Agah collided with him in the Whites' 2-0 away win in the Egyptian Premier League on Friday.
Al-Sayed received treatment on the pitch and carried on playing, although a lot of blood was covering his leg.
Al-Mandouh revealed that the Zamalek stalwart had sustained a 'large' wound to his thigh, nonetheless; he believes the 33-year-old will be ready for the anticipated league clash against Ahli.
"It's a large 20cm-long wound. His knee swelled too but the ligament is fine," he said.
"But I know Abdul-Wahed will be able to take part in training normally starting tomorrow. It won't keep him out of action."
Zamalek would have faced a goalkeeping dilemma had Al-Sayed been ruled out of the capital derby, seeing as he has been the only established keeper at the club since the departure of Essam Al-Hadari.
Egypt's first-choice guardian Al-Hadari has recently joined Sudanese outfit Merreikh after falling out with twin brothers Hossam and Ibrahim Hassan, Zamalek coach and football director respectively.
Inexperienced goalie Mostafa Abdul-Satar is now Al-Sayed's deputy.

Hossam heaped praise on Al-Sayed because he carried on playing despite his injury.
"It was serious and needed stitches but he stayed and finished the game," the head coach stated.
"He will be able to play in the derby because he's a hero."
