Free agent Gamal Hamza may return to Gouna in the close season, the Egyptian Premier League club said on Friday. The deep-lying striker terminated his contract with Ahli by mutual consent in an abrupt manner, having completed a move to the Egyptian champions last month after his deal with Gouna expired. Ahli coach Hossam Al-Badri said Hamza opted to leave because he knew he would find it difficult to compete for a regular place in the team's starting line-up. The former Mainz man could now head back to Gouna, who managed to retain their top-flight status after sealing promotion last season. "We will sit down with Hamza on Saturday to discuss the possibility of him joining the team again," Gouna football director Ahmed Al-Seheifi told FilGoal.com. "The team's technical staff has already agreed to re-sign him but we still need to discuss with him the terms of a potential deal." Zamalek, the club which Hamza spent nine years at before departing in the summer of 2009, are also believed to be monitoring his situation. Hamza joined Gouna on a short-term contract last January after failing to prove his worth with German side Mainz. Mainz released him because he 'could not keep up with the physical demands of the Bundesliga'.
