Zamalek revived their row with the Egyptian FA after launching a scathing attack on its refereeing committee in the wake of Ahli's controversial 2-1 victory over ENPPI on Thursday. The White Knights were already involved in several disputes with the EFA this season but both sides appeared to have reconciled their differences recently. However, Ahli's victory over ENPPI, which prevented Zamalek from closing the gap on their arch rivals at the top, reignited the squabble. ENPPI, who said the game should be replayed, had two goals wrongfully disallowed for offside either side of the interval. Zamalek, who aim to launch a late assault on a title they last won in 2004, used harsh words in their severe criticism of the EFA's refereeing committee. "This is a shameful, disgusting and disastrous refereeing," they said in a statement on their official website on Friday. "The refereeing committee appoints certain referees for the matches of one of our competitors and this raises many questions over their real aims. "This committee is driven by personal interests and whims. Favoritism has become very clear." Ahli have also complained of 'biased refereeing' earlier this season but did not comment on the incidents related to their victory over ENPPI. The Red Devils are six points ahead of second-placed Zamalek with a game in hand. "We call on EFA chairman Samir Zaher to intervene quickly and put an end to such obscene refereeing," Zamalek added. "The refereeing committee is doing their best to gift our competitor the title in a scandalous way."
