Zamalek boosted their belief that they can end a long wait for the Egyptian Premier League title after securing their seventh successive win at the expense of title contenders Petrojet. The Cairo side once again produced a ruthless display to overcome a stubborn opponent in Petrojet with a 3-2 win, thanks to a brace from striker Ahmed Gaafar. Egypt winger Shikabala was also on the scoresheet as Zamalek maintained their revival under coach Hossam Hassan, who is widely credited for turning around their fortunes. Few months ago, Zamalek faced an unthinkable prospect of being relegated to the second division after a dreadful run. Now they dream of causing a major upset and winning the league title for the first time since 2004. "I always had the feeling that we will win the league," central defender Amr Al-Safti, one of the players who were given a new lease of life following the arrival of Hassan, said on the club's official website. "This feeling grows every time we win a game. We will cap those fine results with the league title, God willing." Zamalek, who are seven points behind leaders and arch-rivals Ahli, still have stern tests ahead of them. They will face the likes of Ismaili, Ghazl Mahalla and Harras Hodoud away from home. "We are no longer concerned with away games. We are capable of winning at home and on the road," playmaker Alaa Ali said. Zamalek and Egypt regular defender Mahmoud Fathallah added: "If we succeed in maintaining our winning streak, we will be able to capture the title."
