Skipper Ahmed Hassan said Egypt's 4-0 victory over Algeria in the African Cup of Nations semi final proved that they are the best team in the Dark Continent. The Pharaohs edged closer to winning an unprecedented third consecutive title after outclassing North African rivals Algeria, who finished with eight men after three of their players were sent off. They atoned for their 1-0 loss to Algeria in a World Cup qualifying playoff last November. "Regardless of who we met, we showed that we are the best in Africa," Hassan, who extended his Egyptian and African record of international caps to 171 matches, said after Thursday's match. "We were not after revenge, we just proved that we are the dominant force in the continent. "We should return home with the trophy, we will do our best to achieve that aim. Good luck to Algeria in the World Cup." Egypt will face Ghana, who claimed a narrow 1-0 win over Nigeria earlier in the day, in the final on Sunday. Injury Fears Hassan allayed fears over the injury of combative defender Wael Gomaa and striker Emad Meteb. Meteb was substituted early in the second half due to a hamstring complaint, making way for central midfielder Hossam Ghaly Gomaa, one of Egypt's most consistent performers in the tournament, also picked up an injury late in the game. "There are no problems for Gomaa, it's a minor complaint. He should be fit for the final," Hassan said. "Meteb could be doubtful but the medical team said they would do their best to help him recover in time for the final."
