It was only natural for Ghana to sit back and defend their lead in the second half of their 1-0 victory over Nigeria in the Nations Cup semi final, Asamoah Gyan said. Gyan scored the winner midway through the first half when he rose at the near post to head home Kwadwo Asamoah's corner. Ghana defended in numbers after the interval to keep their lead intact and reach the final for the first time since 1992. "We deserved that victory," Stade Rennes striker Gyan told Al-Jazeera after the game. "Logically, we had to defend our lead in the second half, so we naturally adopted a defensive strategy." Ghana will face the winners of the other semi-final tie between Algeria and Egypt as they eye a fifth Nations Cup crown. "It doesn't matter who we will face in the final, we have no preference," Gyan added.
