A group of Bayern Munich's fans has held the club's board responsible for the Bavarians' string of poor results this season. The capital side were held to a 1-1 draw with Hoffenheim in their Bundesliga opening game, before drawing by the same scoreline with Werder Bremen. But Saturday's 2-1 loss to promoted Mainz, which left Bayern in 14th place with only two points, was apparently the straw that broke the camel's back. Bild reported that some of Bayern's supporters appeared in front of their club's premises on Monday with placards that said aggressive slogans. The angry fans were calling on Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge to resign along with other officials. They also expressed their desire to see Franz Beckenbauer interfere to put an end to the club's problems. According to the German paper, the supporters were protesting against Bayern's failure to secure proper signings this summer. Bayern backed out of Diego's deal, and the Brazilian playmaker eventually joined Juventus from Bremen. The board was also blamed for not approaching any of Real Madrid's out-of-favor trio Arjen Robben, Wesley Sneijder and Rafael van der Vaart. The protestors emphasized on the importance of landing Dutch midfielder Van der Vaart in the current transfer window, in addition to a right back and a goalkeeper.
