Zamalek keeper Abdul-Wahed Al-Sayed will have a scan on the ankle injury he aggravated against Petrojet as doubts arose over his chances of playing in next week's Cairo derby. The 31-year-old guardian limped off the pitch in the second half of Zamalek's 2-1 league win over Petrojet on Thursday, making way for Mohamed Abdul-Monsef. "Al-Sayed had this ankle problem before the game but he was determined to play," Zamalek assistant coach Sami Al-Sheshini told the post-match conference. "He will undergo scans to find out the full extent of the injury." Zamalek boss Michel Decastel will be keeping his fingers crossed that Al-Sayed recovers in time for the Cairo giants' clash against city rivals Ahli next Thursday. The jinxed Abdul-Monsef has hardly won over Zamalek fans since conceding six goals in Ahli's infamous 6-1 victory in 2002. Although Zamalek have nothing to play for, their encounters against Ahli, who are aiming to win a fifth consecutive league title, are considered of special importance.
