Genclerbirligi's Al-Saqqa wants out
Published in FilGoal on 22 - 12 - 2008

Abdul-Zaher Al-Saqqa has decided to leave Genclerbirligi in the January transfer window after suffering a series of disputes with coach Samt Ebaba.
The former Egypt international revealed that he has clashed again with his tactician, therefore made up his mind to move away from the club.
"As a team captain, I give my teammates pep talks and try to motivate them ahead of matches," the veteran defender told FilGoal.com.
"I also give them some tips during games, but the head coach considered this kind of communication as interference in his job, and thus got upset."
The Egyptian sweeper blamed the defeat to Gaziantepspor last month on his boss, who's already facing a baptism of fire following his side's winless run.
During the 2-0 loss, Ebaba fielded a 17-year-old goalie, whose limited capabilities paved the way for Gaziantepspor to register a victory.
"As I expected, the inexperienced keeper's participation resulted in our loss," Al-Saqqa said.
"After the game I saw the youngster crying, so I sat with him and tried to cool him down, telling him that he his premature inclusion was a wrong decision in the first place.
"But to my utter surprise, the coach was infuriated by this conversation."
Imminent Move
Al-Saqqa unveiled that he has recently received several offers, which he will be looking into over the next week.
"Some gulf and Turkish clubs showed interest in my services, and I will probably seal a move to one of them by the new year," he added.
Genclerbirligi slumped to three losses in five games as the Al-Saqqa was sidelined for more than a month.
The team was notably deteriorated during his absence, having leaked seven goals and now lie 12th in the relegation zone.
The 34-year-old claims that Gencler fans are backing him against the team coach, following the former's return from injury.
"The fans called on the coach either to recall me to the squad or to hand over his resignation," Al-Saqqa added.
"I was really pleased to see how loyal the supporters are. To be loved by the fans is the most important thing."
