Arsenal beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge for the first time in four years, as a second half brace from Robin van Persie secured the Gunners a 2-1 win over their London rivals. The big win lifts Arsenal to fifth place with 23 points, while Chelsea stay first despite the defeat with 33 points. Chelsea showed full control of the game during the first half, until a Manuel Almunia throw was picked up by Bosingwa, whose cross was mistakenly flicked into the net by Arsenal defender Johan Djourou on 31 minutes. In the second half, Arsenal equalized then took the lead in the space of three minutes. On 59 minutes, Denilson released Van Persie through on Petr Cech, the Dutch striker rounded the move off with a brilliant finish in the top corner. However, replays showed that the latter was clearly offside but the goal was allowed to stand anyway. Arsenal's second came after Emmanuel Adebayor headed the ball towards Van Persie, who capitalized with a left-footed strike past Cech. The double raised Van Persie's tally to seven league goals this season.
