Former England coach Terry Venables revealed that Newcastle United have offered him the position of caretaker manager at the club. Venables is expected to announce his position from the offer in few hours after continuing negotiations were held on Wednesday and Thursday. "I can confirm I met Newcastle representatives today," Venables told The Sun on Wednesday. "Those talks will continue in the morning, when hopefully I can give them a final decision." Newcastle have been without a coach since the departure of Kevin Keegan earlier this month after disagreements with the board over transfer policies and their interference in his responsibilities. Since then, the Toon Army fans have angrily protested against owner Mike Ashley and Vice-president Tony Jimenez and the former decided to put the club up for sale. Venables has been out of football since working as England's assistant manager when Steve McClaren was Three Lions boss.
