Former England coach Terry Venables, is set to join the England coaching staff led by new boss Steve McClaren. McClaren is due to take over England following the departure of Sven-Goran Eriksson, and the former Middlesbrough manager asked Venables to join his assisting team. "I'm very excited by the prospect of working with England again, although I must stress, the deal hasn't been finalized yet," Venables told News of the World on Sunday. However, Venables who previously lead England to the semi-final of the EURO 1996, insisted that he isn't trying to break his way back to the England hot seat. "I'm not trying to join the staff as a way of getting Steve McClaren's job, I think it's important to get this out in the open so there can be no distractions." "My potential role with Steve is very exciting, he is offering me the freedom to take on as much as I want," the former Tottenham and Barcelona coach added. McClaren and the new technical staff will start their mission when England take on Greece in a friendly game on August 16th at Old Trafford.
