Former England head coach Terry Venables has applied to become South Africa's new full-time coach. The South African Football Association (SAFA) have announced that Venables has applied as one of the 50 names who applied, BBC Sport reported on Sunday. Nevertheless, SAFA chief executive Raymond Hack insisted that Venables' application for the job didn't guarantee him the position and that they will consider all the applicants. "The idea that anyone - Venables included - has an inside track or is in discussions with Safa is utter nonsense," Hack told South African newspaper the Sunday Times. "We acknowledge receipt (of every application) and that's all - nothing is evaluated or discussed at any level of Safa. The irony here is that these many applications are not responses to an advertised vacancy," he added. Meanwhile, ongoing South African boss Ted Dumitru will continue leading Bafana Bafana through the African Cup of Nations (ACN) in Egypt that will kick-off on Friday, before SAFA decides on the new coach. "Ted will report on the African Cup of Nations on 17 February - when the next executive meeting is held - and after that we will take things forward.” Hack insisted. South Africa were drawn to the African Cup Group 3 along with Tunisia, Guinea and Zambia.
