Egypt and Saudi Arabia signed on Sunday an executive programme to strengthen cooperation in tourism, including joint promotion, training, and sustainable tourism initiatives. According to a statement from Egypt's Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the new programme builds on a memorandum of understanding signed in 2014 between the two countries to enhance collaboration in the tourism sector. The agreement was signed in Riyadh by Egyptian Tourism and Antiquities Minister Sherif Fathy and Saudi Tourism Minister Ahmed Al-Khateeb on the sidelines of the UN Tourism General Assembly meetings hosted by Saudi Arabia from 7-11 November. "The programme will help expand joint marketing efforts, exchange expertise in sustainable tourism, and strengthen coordination at regional and international levels," the statement read. Both ministers highlighted the importance of tourism as a key driver of economic growth in Egypt and Saudi Arabia and reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation in the sector.
