Zimbabwean side Dynamos, the Champions League surprise package, claimed a 2-1 home victory over ASEC Mimosas in the competition's group stage opener. Eduard Sadomba put the hosts in front as early as the fourth minute. Serge Wawa drew ASEC level in the 30th minute but Sadomba struck home again in the 73rd minute to help Dynamos claim a precious victory. Dynamos, who eliminated title holders Etoile Sahel in the preliminary rounds, secured their first three points in Group A. Ahli host arch-rivals Zamalek in the other group game later on Sunday.
