Ahmed Fathi is set to undergo surgery on his ruptured Achilles tendon in Portugal, Ahli said on Tuesday. The Egypt midfielder injured himself in the dying moments of Monday's 0-0 draw at Baladeya, which handed Ahli a fourth straight league title. Reds boss Manuel Jose made sure everything is alright for Fathi before the latter's European trip. "This is destiny, I could do nothing about it, and thank God for everything," said the 24-year-old. "I want to thank the board and the coach for facilitating the procedures of my journey to Portugal. "The coach talked to me and raised my morale by telling me that I will be back soon." Jose's team faced a similar blow in 2006, when they missed the services of Angolan winger Gilberto for nearly two seasons with an Achilles injury.
