Liverpool co-owner George Gillet has admitted that his relationship with fellow American partner Tom Hicks has reached a dead end. Apart from their edgy relationship with manager Rafa Benitez, Gillet and Hicks fell out with each other, as the latter tempted to buy out his partner. "This partnership (with Hicks) has been unworkable for some time," Gillett said in a lengthy interview with Toronto radio station Fan590. "We were very fair, we gave our partner a long period of time to try to make arrangements to buy us out. "We didn't put pressure on him but he ultimately did not get to the finish line. "In the meantime, because of the things he said, the fans' reaction has been so negative towards him, and towards us if we sold to him, that has now made that an untenable alternative for us." Hicks was recently in talks with Dubai International Capital (DIC) in an attempt to buy out Gillet, but an agreement was not met with the Arab company.
