Anderlecht suffered their second defeat this season at the hands of Germinal Beerschot, who beat Ahmed Hassan's team 2-0 in the Belgian League on Sunday. Syrian born striker Sanharib Malki opened the scoring after 19 minutes, before Argentine midfielder Hernan Losada doubled the lead 13 minutes from time. Hassan played full 90 minutes for the Purple and White, but he failed to prevent the defeat despite Germinal being a man down since the 68th minute. Anderlecht remain 4th on 23 points from 13 games, seven points off leaders Standard Liege, who beat Lokeren 1-0 on Saturday.
