Zamalek striker Amr Zaki told the club's board on Friday that he won't be able to continue his adventure with the Cairo giants, revealing his intention to hang up his boots. Zaki was eager to help Zamalek end their three-year trophyless spell but the team's 1-1 Egyptian League draw with Suez Cement proved to be the straw that broke the camel's back. "I neither attend Zamalek's training sessions nor will go to the club again," the Egyptian international striker told FilGoal.com. "It is not a hasty decision. I waited two days following Cement match in order to be cool-headed and take an appropriate action, which was retiring from the game." The 24-year-old was one of few players who have been consistent since the season's start. Zamalek's disappointing draw with bottom club Cement prompted a furious reaction from Zaki, who accused his teammates of lacking unity as well as not being faithful to their club. The former ENPPI man is the second player from Zamalek to express such a desire in the space of one week after veteran left-back Tarek Al-Sayed. The men in white, who finished as runners-up last season, are unlikely to mount any challenge for the league title this season as their disastrous start left them in seventh place with just ten points. Psychological problems Zaki insisted he will not backtrack on his decision due to the psychological problems he suffered following Zamalek's poor form. "I haven't slept properly for a long time. I can't bear being in this state. It's a final decision, I don't care if I will suffer financial losses as a consequence," he said. Zaki has joined Zamalek in the summer of 2006 following an unsuccessful spell with Russia's Lokomotiv Moscow. He put in fine displays since joining, yet wasn't helped by the team's poor conditions.
