Ittihad fans called for Mohamed Omar's resignation following their team's 2-1 defeat to Arab Contractors in the Egyptian League on Saturday. The Ittihad-mad supporters were hoping for a better start to the new season after the club signed a host of players but their hopes suffered a blow after just two matches. Ittihad were held to a goalless draw by Harras Al-Hodoud before losing to Arab Contractors. Coach Mohamed Omar signaled to the fans his intention to depart but later on made a U-turn, saying that he is contracted with Ittihad board not with the supporters. He was furious with Ittihad players and accused them of being responsible for the team's defeat. "The players who did not exert much effort will be fined. They didn't follow the technical staff's instructions throughout the match, the attitude which paved the way for Contractors' win," he said. "Many changes will be made in the team's starting line-up for the next league game against Zamalek." Meanwhile, midfielder Khamis Gaafar said he intends to leave Ittihad in the January transfer window because he is not content with the current state of the team. "Ittihad signed many good players but they didn't live up to expectations until now," he said.
