Egyptian playmaker Amr Fathi 'Samaka' put in a fine display but couldn't prevent Kazma from being eliminated from the Kuwaiti Emir Cup quarter-finals after suffering a 4-2 penalty shootout defeat to Al-Salmiya. Former Ahli playmaker Samaka appeared to be in good shape for Kazma, playing for 120 minutes and setting up two goals for his teammates in the thrilling 4-4 draw. Normal time goals from Fahad Al-Fahad (twice) and Younes Al-Mshifri for Kazma were cancelled out by goals from Hamad Al-Harbi and Brazilian duo Jekarya and Sergio Ricardo. In extra time, Kazma regained the lead through Mohamed Al-Abbad but Al-Harbi equalized for Al-Salmiya for the fourth time with his second of the game. Al-Salmiya won 4-2 on penalties, to book their place in the semis, along with Al-Arabi who beat Al-Tadamon 2-1. Kazma suffered their second cup blow in the space of one week after they lost the Kuwaiti Crown Prince Cup final to Al-Arabi 1-0.
