Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is unhappy with UEFA's decision to appoint Russian referee Yuri Baskakov for their Champions League clash against AC Milan. The German giants face Milan away from home in the first-leg of the competition's quarter-final on Tuesday and Rummenigge made no secret of his displeasure at designating Baskakov. "We are all unpleasantly surprised that a Russian, and a very inexperienced Russian at that, will be in charge of the match," he told German sports news agency SID on Monday. "Last year another Russian made unfortunate calls against us. I hope that this time there are no negative consequences for us," Rummenigge added, referring to Bayern's crushing 4-1 defeat to Milan. Rummenigge said he was surprised that UEFA's German official Volker Roth was the man responsible for Baskakov's appointment. "We reminded the UEFA officials about this fact and we complained with Volker Roth, who is in charge of the referees. It is strange that a similar decision was taken by a German."
