Newcastle United forward Albert Luque said he was keen to leave the Premiership and return to the Spanish Primera Liga, British media reported on Thursday. The Spaniard has struggled to make a name for himself in the Premier League since signing for Newcastle from Deportivo La Coruna in August 2005 for a fee of 14 million Euros on a five-year contract. "If things continue as they are I'd look to leave,” Luque was quoted as saying. The 28-year-old has failed to establish himself in coach Glenn Roeder's line-up and is yet to start a game this season. "I'm not playing as much as I'd like, and for that reason I don't rule out returning to Spain," he said. The Spanish international has been recently linked with European champions Barcelona who have three of their front men, Samuel Eto'o, Lionel Messi and Javier Saviola, sidelined by long-term injuries. "I want to return to Spain and if it is to a big club even better," said Luque. "If it is true Barca are interested it would be an honor to play for a club like that. "I'm from Barcelona, and being a Catalan I am very fond of Barca," he added. The player insisted he had no idea if the Spanish giants were really interested. "I don't know anything about it. It would be between them and Newcastle to sort it out," he said. But Luque did reveal he had other suitors. "I have had opportunities to leave England and go to Greece or France, but if I am to leave England it will be to go to Spain." Luque said that he will continue to do his best to earn the trust of coach Roeder until he either gets his full chance with Newcastle or completes his dream move to La Liga.
